- Welcome to the Grand Rapids Hip Hop Coalition – area code: 616. West Michigan is home to some amazing Hip Hop, rap, and R&B artists. Don’t sleep on em! Overall, the coalition (GRHHC) serves on three major fronts to support the 616. First and foremost – the music. GRHHC is a platform, launching all hip hop, rap, and R&B artists in the area that believe in themselves and the organization. Second - public relations. All too many clubs in the area won’t even consider hosting a hip hop venue because they associate it with gunshots in the parking lot. One of the coalition’s primary objectives is to separate the image of hip hop from poor decisions made by individuals. Finally, GRHHC is here for the community. Each and every show pours proceeds back into the community. In fact, the very first GRHHC show was able to provide 15 computers for a local elementary school that previously only had one - that’s an entire media center! Ladies and gentlemen… welcome to the 616.

61Syx Teknique-Breakdancers at ENMU teach to revive a movement
On a national quest to restore hip-hop's reputation, a group of gravity-defying break dancers visited the ENMU ballroom twice Tuesday, where they introduced the "b-boy" lifestyle to an otherwise quiet corner of New Mexico.

to specify the type of Black woman has reached back to racism of the early
1900's brown paper bag mentality.
